Ms. Butler and Ms. Schneider are in touch with one another and plan to have a transition meeting for the Mills students who will be moving to Kiker next year.
However, we need to wait until after the Board of Trustees votes on the plan in order to get the meeting together. That happens Feb. 22.
Please hold off on calling Kiker to ask about the meeting - I promise I will post information here as soon as something is decided.

I just want to reassure anyone who will be going to Kiker Elementary next year that we will be sponsoring transition activities for both students and parents. I have been in communication with Lori Schneider, the Kiker principal, and we will do a transition camp for students during the day, as well as a family event. Once the boundary changes are finalized by the board of trustees, we will set specific dates.
At the PTA meeting last night, Mrs. Butler said that she and Mrs. Schneider were thinking of a transition activity where the kids would take a bus over to Kiker during the day, and then there would be an evening event for the parents.
I asked her a couple of questions that I had gotten from other parents. 1) If parents could meet some of the teachers during the evening event. 2) whethere Kiker accepts placement letters.
