The FUBTF met January 12, with 21 members in attendance. Another member joined the meeting late.
The task force did not decide on a final plan to recommend to the Board of Trustees. Options affecting the boundaries of any school can be still be proposed. Another meeting will be held Thursday, January 21 at 5:45 pm.
As it stands now, here are the changes that were approved by the task force, when compared to Plan 2. To see Plan 2, visit the FUBTF home page.
- No changes to Clayton's boundaries.
- No changes to Kiker's boundaries.
- No changes to Cowan's boundaries.
- 149I,O,J,M,N1&N2 were added to the SWES.
- 349H, F,C1,C2,D returned to Oak Hill.

- 83C1 was added to Patton.
- 96H3,A2 were added to Mills.

Here are the new capacity numbers from Beth Wilson regarding these changes. She's calling it Plan 3, although it's not been formally approved by vote. The split for students from elementary to middle school also becomes more balanced for Mills.
Existing Boundaries: 1,075 students
37% of Mills (395 students) assigned to Small MS and Bowie HS
63% of Mills (680 students) assigned to Gorzycki MS and Bowie HS
Proposed Plan 3: 894 students
44% of Mills (395 students) assigned to Small MS and Bowie HS
56% of Mills (499 students) assigned to Gorzycki MS and Bowie HS
Again, I encourage you to be respectful to all schools and all persons on this blog. Those who do not, will have their posts removed. Thanks.

I am so pleased with the newest map (Plan 3)! Seems like y'all are getting closer to a solution. Great work, all!
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting Michelle.
ReplyDeleteWow! What a marathon session it was, but it seemed a lot more productive than the December session. I am pleased that the task force heard and listened to so many voices from last week's community feedback meeting. It was evident that the task force members spent a lot of time on those comments and that they were seriously taken into consideration.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Michelle and Lisa. Kudos on managing through such a difficult process!
The 'agenda' document is impressive, in its comprehensive scanning of all the comments, and in its faithful recording of all the votes. AISD deserves big ups for doing this well, and for this important improvement over the minutes from previous meetings. Please convey my thanks for the clear documentation of the Dec 15 meeting.
ReplyDeletePlan 3 currently has 1090 students who will be rezoned, almost as few as Plan0. And only 122 are moving to a school in a different vertical team from where they are now, a little more than Plan0, but far lower than the other plans.
ReplyDeleteThis is starting to work a little better.
Michelle and Lisa - thank you again for all of your work.
ReplyDeleteI'd be curious to know what, if any, the stumbling blocks were to moving Plan 3 forward? Do you think it's possible that there are still big shuffles ahead or just minor tweaks?
This definitely looks better for Mills, but I have to wonder what the opinions are about Boone and Sunset Valley being so under-utilized - they can't be good! Is that potentially part of the discussion prior to making a proposal? Or have they agreed to make that a separate discussion?
ReplyDeleteSo far (2/3 thru the Jan21 meeting), there have been no changes to plan3.
ReplyDeleteFUBTF is adjourning, having voted to finalize on Plan3 (as crafted last week).
